There are numerous reasons why Sarasota is one of the most desirable places to...
vacation... live... work... and raise a family. While maintaining a small town atmosphere, Sarasota has a big city
feel with exceptional amenities... offering some of the finest
museums,
art and antique galleries, as well as numerous
shops and boutiques. Be prepared to include a few evenings in Sarasota with our resident
ballet,
opera house,
symphony,
live theatre,
comedy clubs, and jazz bars.
Back in the 1920's John Ringling and his wife Mable made Sarasota their winter home for their world famous circus and
eventually a trove for their legacy of art and architectural treasures. Visit the
Ringling Museum and view the many fine baroque period paintings including the oversized works of Rubens and the
many sculptures from Ringling’s collection. Tour their personal home, the
Ca d’ Zan and stroll the rose gardens and grounds along Sarasota Bay.
For those young adventurers, there’s the
Circus Museum where the smallest big top circus is on display. Today, Ringling’s legacy continues with the
Ringling School of Art and Design and
Florida State University’s performing arts, dance and music. Artists, sculptors, performers, musicians and actors have
made Sarasota their home.
Shared with the
Sarasota Ballet, The
Asolo Theatre houses one of the area's leading regional theatrical companies.
Performing November through June on a turn-of-the-century stage, professionals from around the United States gather
to present a unique repertory ranging from classics to new works. Check the
Vacation Planner for Asolo and other theatrical venues.

Over 60 Golf Courses and numerous tennis courts, including the famed Leddbetter/ Bollitierri a.k.a.

Ed Smith's Stadium where the Baltimore Orioles conduct their spring training from February through March. Each
July, the Gulf of Mexico explodes with rooster tail plumes of the
Sun Coast Offshore Grand Prix Races. This nationally sanctioned American Power Boat Association Race is the
highlight of a 10 day festival.
For shoppers, Sarasota has a rare combination of small town charm and big city sophistication. Boutiques with
distinctive styles, art galleries and sidewalk eateries can be found along Main Street and
Palm Avenue as well as
St Armands Circle. Bargain hunters can head to the flea markets or on Saturday mornings grab a light breakfast
at a nearby cafe and head to the farmer’s market on Main and Lemon. Venice is only a short drive south for sharks
teeth and unique gifts for the family. There are three area malls
(Southgate Mall,
Sarasota Pavillion, and
Sarasota Square Mall), with a fourth opening soon. Only 40 minutes away, spend a day at
Tampa’s International Mall with exquisite offerings from Tiffany’s, Nordstrom’s, Louis Vuitton, Neiman Marcus
and over 200 more... all under one roof!!!
After a day at the beaches, golf, or shopping, it's time to do the town. Sarasota and its islands offer intriguing
choices for
Food and fun. Evenings come to life with an assortment of clubs, lounges and entertainment. Dance to the
sounds of Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Salsa and more.
Families will enjoy
Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, located at the south end of Longboat Key and its world-renowned
marine research center. See sharks, dolphins, manatees and sea turtles, along with more than 100 other species of
marine life. Across from Mote Marine is "
Save Our Birds", where recovering shorebirds are housed on two waterfront acres. A meandering boardwalk brings visitors through lush vegetation featuring pens and pools of native and
migratory birds. And, don’t forget to plan for
Sarasota Jungle Gardens,
G. Wiz Hands on Science Museum,
Sarasota Bay Explorer,
Big Cat Habitat, and
much, much, more.
Yes, Sarasota is home to the world's most inviting climate, glamorous
culture, world class sporting events,

community living. Add the tropical climate, whitest sand
beaches in the world, and you've discovered "The Land of Enchantment".
